[bolger] Re: ! Back to bang for the buck!

Hi, Peter L., Peter V. and PB&F,
From now on, my sign off will be, Stan, of the Micro Navigator Tug,
Snow Goose. With these new ideas, I am as excited about the additional
building as I was when I started the project two years ago. I must
confess to being one of those mental cases that enjoy the building as
much as the boating. In order to give credit where due, I called our
local trophy shop and ordered a brass plaque with, "I wanted to build a
sail boat, but Peter Lenihan (on the banks of the St. Lawrence) made me
build this instead". ;-)
Since the bottom was built from two 1/4" layers of marine ply, and is
fully glassed, and the bunk side as well as the cabinet base act to
further stiffen it and deaden the sound, I don't think the pounding will
be much of a problem. What could be nicer than the constant
splash/gurgle sound of the ripples hitting the bottom as you go to sleep
at night. It is however nice to have the option of the semi V mod
available if it is needed. (thanks PB&F)
On the ballast, I bow to the wisdom of the masses, and I will install
it, especially since the pilot house will further increase the height
and the stability will be nice.
I do however question the necessity of installing a rudder since the
steering will be done with the outboard. What if I brought keel all the
way out to the transom at the depth of the motor? I will, however retain
the aft wet well for fuel etc.
Rrrrrrr, That's the sound of the Snow Goose MOTORING down the big
muddy as the sun sets on the stern. Rrrrrr. snap! pop!... D&%#%*
snags!!!

PS; I'll try to have a sketch of the pilot house plans on my web site
ASAP, For your
Approval.
