[bolger] Re: PCB's E-mail Address (and yours too)

Carter:

This is not a waste of time IMHO. I am one who gets this list in his
mailbox, and it is easy to get the address of the poster in Outlook Express:
Simply double click on the message, then double click on the name of the
author, and you will get a dialog box with an "add to address book" button,
and their name and e-mail address.

I take the risk of explaining the obvious, but maybe there are some
members who haven't thought about this.

The software protects our privacy by disguising e-mail addresses. This
list can be read by anyone in the world on the Web. When you spell it
out like that, you give direct access to your e-mail box to anyone and
everyone. If you let E-Groups disguise it, then only group members can
e-mail you, and spam is filtered out, I think.

To send a direct, private message, go to the "members" tab on the Web
page, find the person you want to send a message to, and click on their
address, or click on a disguised address in a posting.

I am not sure how it works for those who use the list through their
e-mail rather than the Web.

If you send a direct message, the recipient gets your full return
address. If they reply, it goes right to you, not through the group.
You get their full address and you can carry on your correspondence
directly.

Again, maybe everyone knows this. If so, I apologize for wasting your
time. But if there are any who didn't, now you know.

We seem to misunderstand the magic of software here, but when yeserday
we typed in "Pee Cee Bee" @.... it promptly drops the Cee -
letters spelled out to outwit the machines, ha!. Our address should be
pcb @.... Let'ssee what happens this time.
