base of the cabin hatch to the top of the hatch, to allow me to climb
out forward onto the cabin top.

Thank you so much for posting the modifications on your site.A
drawing is worth a thousand words!!!Your pilot house looks good,very
good in fact! I would not have thought about the Birdwatcher style
walkway!Neat!Especially as it will greatly facilitate your going
forward to deal with the anchor or some pesty admirers,without the need
to walk out and around the pilot house.
I would still keep the full ballast,though.
