Re: New Group idea
I like the idea. I also read can.rec.boating but not enough boat
building threads. I do have a concern of diluting the pool of
experiences we have here.
just my 2 cents

single-point exposure on this topic (e.g., building Bolger boats and
boasts)gets participants from all over the world--a great resource,
even if all the messages need consolidation. How about this: set up
a separate file section for CANADIAN resources: or better, start an

The Bolger group,I believe, is pretty much for fans of his designs
etc....There is an ever growing body of reference material captured
here and a geographically spread out membership which,I also
believe, can be called on for assistance regarding some of your Canada
specific questions.
That's my knee jerk thoughts on your otherwise interesting
proposal.

I've given some thought off and on to the idea that a boatbuilding
group for Canadians might not be a bad idea. The focus would be on
material availability, product labelling, fed or prov. regulations
and things pertinent in a place where the water is hard 5 months a
year. Of course everyone would be more than welcome, even you
guys/gals south of us, across the pond and down under or wherever.
I'm assuming that members of this group would continue our other
group commitments. I know, as potential moderator, I don't want to
handle threads on Michalak questions, hull displacement, etc.
I'd be interested in starting such a group provided:
- there is an interest for this group
- people would be willing to submit and maintain info (e.g. marine
ply sources in BC, wholesale epoxy outlets in La Belle Province,
registration regs, in Ontario)
- I have a co-moderator, preferably French speaking. Volunteers?
Any/all feedback greatly appreciated. Contact me off list, please.
