Re: anchor storage

Thanks, Jamie

I wonder if a piece of thin floating line were attached to the anchor
rode at that 5 meter spot, just long enough to reach to the cockpit,
but not so long as to foul in the prop.
Pull the anchor rope in until the floating line was at the surface,
and, Maybe, sometimes, it would trail back to the cockpit where you
could grab it to pull the rest in?
My higher cabin is nice for interior space, but makes the
forward "Deck" a little heigh to have to climb on and it's over 10'
form the cockpit to the dangling anchor anound the hull.

With the slot top open it is Very easy. I Really Like slot tops.

Kay Does work well though, and the view from my perspective is pretty
nice, too. (ouch this part of this post may be deleted)

Thanks

Pat

To much time to just Think, now that winter has set in.

Hi Pat

Getting it back isn't done 100% from the cockpit -- I have to step up
on deck far enough to at least hook the anchor line with the boathook.

But first I pull in the line, from the cockpit, until the 5 meter
mark on the rope is beside the mast. Then I use the boathook to grab
the line below the bow cleat, then pull the bight back to the
cockpit, where I finish the job. If the 5 meter mark was at the
right place, there's enough rope left out to let me pull the bight
back without having to adjust.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good set-up already. You just can't
beat personal service!

Jamie
I took a look at your "Anchor Locker" photo.
I can see how you could put out the anchor from the cockpit, but how
do you recover it from the cockpit?

I'm still looking for an easy, "All from the cockpit" idea for the
anchor on my PK. Kay, at the bow, works nicely, but I would like to
be able to drop and recover and "stow" a small "Lunch hook" anchor
without having to go forward.

Take a look at issue one of new articles athttp://www.chebacco.com/
for a descrition of how I store my anchors. I regularly anchor and
recover single handed, and do nearly all of it from the cockpit.
Randy Wheating put a nice bow roller, in a short plank bowsprit,on
his Chebacco, and keeps a Bruce anchor there. If he's reading this
maybe he'll reply.

Yes, I put on on mine, but you have to go to the forward hatch to handle the anchor.
