Hey Steve,

I will sacrifice what's left of a 1.75 L. of LAMB'S NAVY rum to honor
the boating gods and insure a safe and memorable launching.

May she float like a duck!

Happy New Year, Nels
Hi Ron,

Only beer I like is the dark stuff. I drank one San
Muigel in the last 5 years. Heavy German Bach beer
that you have to chew is more to my liking. ;~) I
like the Tuba (Coconut wine) Problem is when you buy
it if you don't know how old it is you don't know how
strong it is. After three days it starts to get
pretty potent. After 21 days it's called Bahalina.
(Bahal means old) Never tried Bahalina. Anyway after
the first mouthful of "bahal" tuba your whole mouth
numbs up. Then you cant really taste it that much
which is a blessing. If you get some that is a week
old and you thinks its just a day old you're in for a
surprize when a couple of glasses get you loopy. One
small glass and Edna is fuzzy headed. The best
quality of Tuba is the price. 40 pesos a gallon.
That's about 75 cents US. Tuba is enjoyable while
working on your boat as long as you don't drink more
than one glass an hour. (The last sentence is to
bring us back on topic.)

Let me add:
Today is January 1st here in the Philippines. So a
very Happy New Year to all of you.

The Featherwind, Sea Angel, is finished and today is
launch day for her maiden voyage. I will post
pictures tonight on my web page unless the "rain gods"
foil my plans. We bought the duck yesterday for the
blessing. Edna wanted to use a chicken but apparently
making little crosses in duck blood on the hull brings
much more luck than chicken blood. Anyway I like the
taste of duck better than chicken. Sarap!

Just hope the boating gods cooperate and we have a
good day for the maiden outing.

Mabuhay,
Steve.

Subject: Tuba ??

Steve,
I can relate to 'rain squalls' that last all day . . .
and 20 foot wide
by 10 foot deep concrete drainage ditches.

However, what's this 'Tuba'? The San Miguel factory
finally blow up ?
