Another Featherwind.
Hi folks,
Doc sent me some pictures of his Featherwind and I posted them on my
website. You can access them from this URL.
http://www.angelfire.com/ex/ti/FWmain.html
He didn't build it himself but he has painted it and is working on
some mods. (weather permitting, he says) He will send more
pictures as he progresses. I have asked him to allow me to put up
his email address, and if he ok's with that I will, so that anyone
with any comments or questions for him can contact him directly.
Looks like my webpage is becoming a Featherwind webpage so if anyone
with a FW has pictures and would like them displayed please contact
me at:

Anyone thinking about building a small sailboat for the first time
check it out also. I have a link up to Dave Carnel's page. I'm
really jazzed about this boat.
Just to add a comment. I have had Sea Angel out twice and broke the
rudder both times. Today I started on a new "modified" rudder that
I will weight with lead so gravity holds it down. I also rigged a
brailing system that looks as if it will work well. I plan to take
pictures in the next few days, when I get things working and will
post a message on this board when they are up. I'm also working on
a leeboard hold-down/adjusting system that looks promising.
I'm thinking of adding a skeg. She is almost uncontrolable with the
board up even sailing down wind. She keeps rounding up into the
wind or going sidways. Do any of you think a skeg will help? Last
time (2nd) time out she was very difficult. The rudder kept coming
up and the board was straight down. Looking at the pictures Edna
took of me sailing the first time the board was angled back a bit.
I may have the center of lateral resistance too far forward but I
can angle the leeboard back a bit to compensate. I will try it next
time and see what happens. Gotta do the rudder first though. Then
I really wanna add a club footed jib.
Anyone with suggestions please let me hear from you. Specially on
the rudder system.
Thanks and Mabuhay to all,
Steve.
