Yes the family has had and has a few Bolger Boats. My father built
a "Romp" 30' Cat Ketch called "Beluga", then a 20' Sheet Ply
Chebacco called "Grebe". A "Teal" dinghy , a couple of "Elegant
Punts", a 13' 6" Strip-planked, Dynel and Epoxy
Sheathed "Recreational Rowboat" called "Folly", "Merlin" 21' 3" x
7'10"(Marina Cruiser in B.W.A.O.M.), 15' x 5' "Diablo" Outboard
Utility Skiff called "Sabre" and he is currently finishing off a
Bolger "Harbinger" 15' x7'1" catboat which he hopes to have in the
water by February. She's a combination of modern and traditional
boatbuilding methods, - Strip planked, Dynel and epoxy sheathed wood
with frames , floors etc so when finished she'll look 100%
traditional and last close to 200 years + if looked after !!!!
He's also built a number of boats by other designers, but nothing
major, just dinghies and a Kayak.

might be slightly more practical in regards to trailering,
launching/retrieving. Also the smaller craft will require less power
to reach the specified top speed of around 40 Knots. A 160 HP 6
cylinder should be able to attain this speed. Bolger stated in a
letter to me that about 100-130HP Should see speeds in excess of 30
Knots.(Approx.34 M.P.H.)

Currently Bolger is designing me a custom composite construction "Torpedo-Stern" runabout based on "Snow Leopard"(B.W.A.O.M) but slightly smaller and lighter 26' x 6 '6" to "Snow Leopard's" 28' x 7'

The reason a new design was required was that the design of "Snow Leopard" hadn't progressed any further than what is shown in "Boats with an Open Mind" and I decided that a slightly smaller version might be slightly more practical in regards to trailering, launching/retrieving. Also the smaller craft will require less power to reach the specified top speed of around 40 Knots. A 160 HP 6 cylinder should be able to attain this speed. Bolger stated in a letter to me that about 100-130HP Should see speeds in excess of 30 Knots.(Approx.34 M.P.H.)

I'm thinking that a Subaru "Boxer" 3.3 L 230HP 6 cylinder engine will fit the bill nicely, maybe De Tuned or Rev. limited to about 4500-4800 Max. to yield about 160-180 HP.

I sent off for the Black Skimmer plans today. singlehanded. The reference site for Bolger books turned up some
second hand copies so I might invest. Are you sailing a Bolger
design,

Cheers,
