Re: [bolger] Light dory question..

I love using my Gull off the beach. Between flair, rocker, and speed;
the Gull is just ticket for shooting out between small breakers. The
running start, jump in, get the oars going is always a bit of a
chinese fire drill, but I don't think it would be any better in a
plumb-sided boat. But once she's going, the flair and rocker will get
you through small combers and larger swells.

If you're just stepping into the Gull on a quite beach, there's no
problem at all.

YIBB,

David

Just a quick question for anyone who has used one of Bolger's light
dories. Is is difficult to use the boat off a beach? I'm thinking of
the difficulty of stepping over the side (and flare) onto the flat
bottom. I have not been in one in 25 years and my imagination isn't
seeming too flexible on this issue.
