Re: [bolger] Red Stripe AC exterior plywood

In response to the question about Menards redstripe plywood...

I used 1/2 inch Menards redstripe on my boat. I laminated 2 layers for the
bottom. used 1 layer for the garboard strakes. I used Menards 1/4" Baltic Birch
for the two upper strakes and topsides. The redstripe was void-free and I
was able to find some with nice veneers on both sides. It's kind of the luck of
the draw at Menards -- sometimes it's good, sometimes it's crap. You've got
to be able to identify the good stuff and then be willing to dig if you want to
find pieces with 2 good sides. The ply is very light weight and, I suspect,
susceptible to rot. My hope is to keep it dry with a couple layers of
zynole/epoxy on the bottom. I'm still in the building stage, so I can't tell you
anything about how it holds up over the long-run. If you're interested in info
on my project, I've got a web site:http://Arcebus.net

Has anyone seen or used the type of plywood called Red Stripe AC
exterior plywood. I found it at Menards and it looked good.
It has a thick core of Douglas Fir with thin outer veneers of some
type of hardwood almost like luan but harder. I was thinking about
using it on my AF3 for the sides and wanted to get some feedback from
the group.

Thanks Chris
