Tallship weekend
Glad to see bruce getting in some tall ship time.
last weekend i got down to Esperence to do a stint of night watch on
the barquentine 'STS Leeuwin II' a miserable rainy night but worth
it all the same. next day after some ship cleaning we departed and
took delivery of a shiny new Outboard for the folding schooner.
A Tohatsu 5hp longshaft. itsfirst testwas launching into a 22knt
breeze with associated chop. It performed fine even on half revsin
all directions the schooner felt a bit scary over the first few
waves , then settled into a cruising speed. we ran in for about a
mile on the return leg and the schooner surfed beautifully on only
1/4 revs. what a ride!!
This motor representsfully 1/3 the cost of the schooner to date, as
Im about to have a real mainsail made.
