Re: Missing State Series Design / PBJ insult?!!

Sorry for the typo, I know the letter sent was correct...didn't mean
to offend any delicate sensibilities with poor typing technique...

YES I agree, he probably won't write back if you keep refering to him as PBJ, surely its PCB as in Philip C. Bolger.

I believe RETRIEVER was the next design up from Hawkeye. There is a
tiny photo of it here:

Anybody have any further information? Is it about 25 feet?

Is it not possible that the proposed missing design is not in the
State Series, but in the Micro-trawler/Hawkeye series? The Clam Skiff
has the big, thick plywood shoe which made it the (sort of) precursor
of these boats.

It would seem that a larger, easy to build CCS in the 21'-25' range
might end up as more of a mini (or next size) trawler. The fact that
it could probably handle a wide range of engines, be a (relatively)
easy build, support a longer live-aboard situation, and still be
towable by a mid-range tow vehicle makes it an interesting sounding
proposition.

In any case, I might be interested in a group effort to commission a
design from PJB and friends. I am trying to decide what to build
now. I recently contacted PBJ about a "Fast Super Brick", and have
not yet heard back. I don't hold out much hope that he is going to
drop everything currently on his plate to design something with a
limited appeal. He may have a suggestion which I will share with the
group when I get his reply. (we are conducting our conversation via
snail-mail so it may be a while)

Another major issue is that my significant other recently informed me
that she is not sure she wants to be seen in such a quirky craft but
has admired some of his powerboats. Having been married for almost
25 years, I have learned when to take the hint...
