Re: American o/b ?

Years ago OMC products were built all over the world including
Canada, Belgium, Hong Kong (IIRC) and Australia and I'm sure other
places. Sometimes the models varied i.e. Australia made a manual 40hp
which wasn't supplied to Eastern Canada. Knowing something about how
OMC built them here I'm sure the Belgians did a good job of building
a US motor. BTW - the older 6hp OMC was one of my favorite motors but
it's one drawback was a water intake that was far too easily covered
in weeds.

Bryant - an OMC mechanic many years ago.

A few years ago I wanted to replace the 'non-shift' 3.5hp on my Potter.
A little more, 'oomph', would be nice but the main desire was for F-N-R
capability. I also wanted to, 'Buy American'.

A little looking got me to a small shop that sold that good, old,
American 'iron' that I remembered from growing up in Atlantic City, NJ.
A 6hp 'Yachttwin', with an extra long 25 inch shaft . . . a '92
'leftover' at a very good price . . . PERFECT !!

Got it home, made a simple stand so I could wax & 'prep' the motor, and
proceeded to 'un-box' my beauty. As I was pumping grease into the
fittings, I looked at the 'Mfg. Plate' for the 'Warrantee Card' info,
and was surprised by . . . "Made in BELGIUM" !!
