Looks good! Was it cold molded?
It seems like I see some steam bent
ribs, plus some plywood frames.
Harbginger has an almost identical hull
to Spartina in _Boats With an Open Mind_.
.... Bruce,
My father built his "Harbinger" Catboat strip-planked, sheathed with Dynel and epoxy. The frames are actually laminated and the frames in the bow section are sawn frames from 'real' timber, not plywood.
I'd have to disagree that Harbinger has an almost identical hull to Spartina. Spartina is Flat Bottomed and has a much more curvy bow.Harbinger is Round bottom with a traditional catboat stem that actually leans back from plum, if you look closely at the lines plans in "The Folding Schooner" book by Bolger. The basic dimensions are about the same; 15'0 x7'1" (Harbinger) V 15'4" x 7'0"(Spartina)

all those beautiful inlays.
Cheers paul.
I've just posted some new photos on Bolger 3 group in the Files
section in the "Harbinger" folder.
My father has nearly finished her now("Dolly T" - Bolger
designed 'Harbinger' 15' catboat), just some minor fitting out to do
and then she'll be on the water at last!!
In reality she's taken longer to build than I expected, but my
father is 65 and only works part time on her. Its taken him nearly a
year from start to just about complete this boat. He's quite pleased
with her to say the least!
If you look at the photos you can see he's done quite a good job.
The next project will be a custom designed (By Bolger of course!!)
Torpedo sterned Inboard runabout based apon "Snow Leopard" from
BWAOM but only 26' x 6'6".I'm still waiting for Bolger to finalise
the plans so we can get started later in the year. Its just coming
into winter here in Tasmania so even if the plans were ready we
probably won't start building until spring. Anyway we've just
started building a 32' X 14' Semi-permanent Boat storage/Building
shed and this has to be finished first before we can start on
another boat.
