A bright choice?

Anybody have experience with Trucoat (clear lacquer auto finish) for bright
work, instead of marine varnish? A Nova Scotia kayak maker has used it for
years to finish what have to be the most spectacularly made stripper kayaks
in the world. At least they're the most amazing ones I've ever seen. He
swears by the finish and it's hard to argue with his results. Any comments
out their?
