Bobbing Boxes competition

This summer, August 15 in Brunswick Maine, there will be a cardboard
boat contest -

I'm thinking it might be easiest to build a kid-sized craft (8-
and/or 3-year-old), perhaps a kayak, or mini-Teal. Perhaps cut out
the cardboard, and sheath in 2-3 layers of wide packing tape, prior
to taping the seams.

Suggestions for designs, materials, and methods would be most
appreciated!!!
