Re: [bolger] Re: Progressive brand epoxy experience...?

Ditto!

The epoxy from RAKA if very forgiving as epoxy goes and now after almost 60 gallons used by myself on 5 different boats, the product seems to have the same properties so the quality control is good.

The Customer service is top notch as well.

i know nothing about epoxy, nada.......but i'll have used seven
gallons of the raka stuff by the time i finish my micro. It's easy
to use, realitively cheap, UPS brings it fast and larry at raka
helps me out with advice on use/fillers/cloths/tools/compatible
varnishes and the likes. The regulary mix seems to take about two
weeks to blush?.....not sure if that is normal but it makes things
easy not worrying about it untill that part of the boat is done and
behind you.

No experience with that brand. All retail dealers buy their raw materials
from the same few big refiners, then blend additives to get the desired
characteristics. brittle/softer, blush/no-blush, wetting ability,
hardner/resin ratio, etc.

I've always bought the System Three stuff by mail order from their site:
http://www.systemthree.com/index_2.aspThe array of stuff and tools on the
retail display racks overwhelms me and you can't see what's not there.

Don't forget Fiberglass Coatings at www.FGCI.com - I'm on my 15th
gallon and still happy

Perhaps we should take a poll, www.raka.com
is another popular epoxy supplier around here.

Greetings,

I understand from reading here and elsewhere that West Systems and
System Three are the leading brands, but their dealers are a fair
drive for me. Does anyone here have experience with Progressive
brand epoxy? I'm thinking of trying the Basic No Blush.

Cheers,
