Just be glad you are not making a motorglider. An acquaintance, as I
recall, did something like 1000 MEASURED hours sanding and filling on
the wings to preserve laminar flow. This is also why a Vari Eze is not
so very easy.

I'll bet bidirectional (i.e. woven) tape lays down a lot better than
biaxial! I've had no trouble with it, or at least not enough to remember
from a year or two ago, on a lot smaller radius than 1". I'm sure it's
not as strong, but OTOH there's no need to be stronger than the rest of
the boat.

I have sanded for about 332 hours to date. So sick of it. It's my
own fault i ran out of epoxy halfway through the bottom job, it set
hard so I had to sand between epoxy coats two and three. The bottom
was coated in epoxy, laid with 6 oz dynel to just round the chines,
followed by more epoxy to fill the weave. Then i double taped the
chines with 6 oz biaxel cloth, which did'nt wrap the chines well,
and stood up in some bad ways.......so i grinded about 40% of that
stuff back off. Then i sanded the whole thing over again today.
Tommorrow i'll coat the tape one last time let her set for a few
hours and then trowel on some micro balloon thickened epoxy over the
whole thing. Then God willing give it a quick sanding this fridayn
and be done with the bottom.....for now.

Did i screw something up with that tape?.....the chines had a 1"
radius routed into them and it just would'nt settle. If i had to do
it over i would have just wrapped the dynel up to the waterline,
filled the weave once and been done. All the bumbs and runs (many)
were tape induced.

Anyone know if copperpoxy is back on the market? or is it still on
the EPA hold list? Do you have to prime the hull prior to the
copperpoxy application or will it set right on the epoxy?

Thanks,
Jason
