Re: thanks re Folding Schooner heads up
Not helpless if capsized
crew weight up to 400 lbs with good performance
really simple and cheap construction
adequate sailing performance
not helpless if capsized!
easy to bail and right
won't freeze me to death if I make a mistake
wouldn't make a good submarine
well, you get the idea. This outlook courtesy of a memorable capsize in
cold water in a boat with not much flotation
Still quite hypothetical at this point
the ultimate would be something cartoppable that would be comfy sailing
in near shore ocean for hours around Gloucester, Salem, Beverly, Nahant
etc., but that's a fantasy

I'm not sure I recall who gave the heads up about the copy of Folding
Schooner on eBay, but I appreciate it. No one else bid, for some reason.
As a jobless bum, I shouldn't have, but it's an awfully fun book.
Anyone know if he has anything more recent like the Cold Water
Sailboard? Preferably good for up to 400 lbs crew. Due to traumatic
experience in past, I prefer boats (at least sailboats) that are not
helpless when flipped. Probably hypothetical as we seem to sail mainly
at messabouts, though we row a few times a year.
