You did a beautiful job of it, Andrew. Nicely documented, as well.
The kick-up rudder is a nice touch. I built mine stock. It performs
very well. It is so stable that small kids can stand up in it; it
sails very well (from my limited experience) - I have laid it over to
the point that water was coming in over the side decks, and it showed
no tendancy to turn turtle. I have the right oarlock supporting the
push-pull stick, which keeps it nicely to hand. I am considering
building a kick-up rudder and lee-board - ala Michalak, since
rigging more or less requires standing in water deep enough to clear
the lee-board - would also be easier to operate in the shallow waters
around here. After 5 years, I was starting to get a few zippers in
the bottom, so I stabilized it with 6 oz cloth. Enjoy your new
Pirogue

Well - last Sunday I finally launched my modified "CSD Pirogue". The
main change I did to it was to convert from a lee-board to an off-
centre centreboard. Overall I was pretty happy with the boat
although winds were quite light and variable so it was hard to tell.
