[bolger] PCB&F in messing about in boats
Phil,
Presented a very niece daloog aobot hauling heavy boats whit
marginaly cars. Using marginaly towing vehicles. I use a very
simular system with a front mounted wench on a Subrua Brat.
It would do wonderous feets well beyound it 1700# 4 weel
drive and a front winch would get me back from most any where.
I fish a lot with a fellow that had a small for cyclinder pickup and rear
wheel drive and a pretty good sized boat. On a steep ramp we just
unloaded normaly and then whe we loaded up he backed the trailer
dow in the water whit the rear wheels in the water and put the boat
on the trailer and couldn't putll it out. He plocked the tralier wheels
and disconected from the trailer and took out a 5/8 roap about 50
foot long one end he tied to the trailer and on end he looped over the
ball of the pickup.
We got in the pickup and started for town. He just drove off at a brisk]
pace. We hit the end of the roap and the pickup started to load up
and the boat began to move and it was the smoothest operation I
ever witnesses. There were no jerks and every thing was under control.
I boutght a 3/4 roap and used it to pull out stuck tractors twice the
size of the tractor I was using.
You need to be careful becaues if the rope comes loose it is headed
righ for you ro what you are pulling so no chains or iron of any kind
should be connected to the chain in a way that can become a projectile.
