Hi Bubba,
The short answer is that epoxy is a glue and polyester
isn't.Also,epoxy will stick to polyester but polyester not to epoxy.
If you are already intending on using epoxy for part of the boat,why
not go all hog and use it for everything else? Skimmer is not that
big a boat and a single kit of epoxy(2 gals.?) ought to see the job
done.

I am starting a skimmer, poor man's whaler, tomorrow and want to
cover the plywood with glass and some sort of resin to prevent
checking. Planning to use 1oz or 3oz fiberglass cloth from the
aviation supply place and wondering if I can get by with the cheaper
polyester resin.

The question part is that I will be using epoxy resing for some of
the glueing of pieces here and there and seems like I remember
hearing that epoxy will not adhere to polyester?? Is this so? If so
I guess I need to use all epoxy to coat and to glue...
