Heres an idea to try but the assumtion is that your weather is warm
to hot. soak the wood for 24 hrsthen clamp it in a form to be bent.
wrap in black plastic and as the day progresses slowly tension the
clamps this may continue over a few days . try to slightly over bend
the wood. leave it clamped todry for a few days in the same warm spot.
I used this technique to make the tiller for my FSand it had to be a
good solid 'S' bend in 30" of 3/4 thick wood.
I did an experiment steamin a piece of white cedar over a kettle for
comparison ans the 30" by 3/4 piece could be bent into a hoop, dried,
resteamed and bent back straight!. so chhose the right wood.

I was worried about the bidirectional bend on my micro's rubrails (3
pieces of 16'x.5"x1.5" oak) so i boiled a pot of clean shop rags
supported the ends of the strips on some saw horses, put light
weights in the middle and wrapped the steamy rags all over...did
this three times and let the strips sit out for two days with the
weights and cooled damp rags. The pieces actually bent more than
needed but sprung back about right after a few days of drying. When
i installed them i only had to bend one way. I don't think it really
helped my cause, just wanted to see if it worked.

I have six 3/4 X 3/4 pieces of wood, the smallest
is 6" long the largest 40", that need a small bend.
The defection in the largest is about 1/4". Not having
a steam cabinet what is the best way of doing this?

There has been some discussion about this:

hot water and towels?

laying on the grass?

I don't remember the details because it's not important
till it's important.

Could some kind soul point me in the right direction?
