PCB wrote of Dynamite Payson in the forward to
Dynamite's book _Instant Boats_.:

"[Dynamite is] between the devil (a designer [PCB]
full of enthusiasm but with a limited grasp of the
nature of the problems) and the deep sea (would-be
boatbuilders--as a class not the most sensible crew alive.)"

not the most sensible =~ complete nut

This tells a lot as to why PCB is willing to let Dynamite
sell plans on a commission; which is: because Dynamite
takes the phone calls from the 'complete nuts' with
patience and wisdom saving Phil's energy.

See for instance, Dynamite's explanation of the 'Moaning Chair'
in the introduction to that book.
Sam,

It's the stem piece alone that's changing. I asked Suzanne if I should hold
off cutting out the hull sides, and she said no, they're staying the same.

the MDO for the sides arrived this morning, and the delivery man was so
intrigued that he wrote down the names of Phil's and Dynamite's books.

Tim, that's interesting. I love Topaz, but have
always thought that the bow profile is too fine/low to
suit the hull. I wonder if they will mke it look like
the Sitka Explorer--they got the proportions just
right there, I think. In fact, I wonder how S.E. is
coming . . . Sam

I ran into Suzanne A. at the woodenboat show in newport last weekend,
and she mentioned that a new stem design will be forthcoming for Topaz.
Evidently she and Phil decided they could improve its looks after seeing
the boat it in 3D.

I can't resist reporting another part of our conversation:

She asked if Topaz was my first boat. I said no, I'd built a Diablo, and an
Elegant Punt, and an Auray Punt, and had bought a Chebacco. She
smiled and said in a friendly fashion, "Oh, so you're a complete nut."
