Re: Pictures of Clam Skiff in Scandanavia???
Finland,
I corresponded with the owner/builder a couple of times, though I can't
find my emails from him, so I disremember the name.
He ended up burning or dismembering the boat (sad) as it wasn't really
what he needed. I remember his telling me what a truly small boat it
was, in contrast to the idea you get from the plan or from looking at
the article on the Aussie cabin clam skiff.
I wrote PCB about adding 30" or so to give room for an enclosed head and
a bit more room on the aft deck for tankage. He said it would be a
better boat in every way with the added length. At that time, I didn't
know that the cabin was "tiny" in height and width as well, so I didn't
discuss adding to either of those dimensions. Knowing his thoughts on
sharpies, I'd think he would have been negative to that notion. I drew
up a proportional scaleup (size forgotten) to see what could be done,
and it ended up encroaching on Minnesota's territory, so I gave it up.
Then I fell ill and now can't build *anything* until I can get well
again. I have a "tinny", a 63 Cherokee 16' alum. runabout and can't even
get up the strength needed to put an interior in it..
Anyway, let us know if you decide to build the cabin clam skiff. John
Ewing & I have looked into this off-and-on and both rejected the design
for one reason or the other, but both agree that the name is awful. I
think we called it the "Saloon Launch"/* inter se*/ :-)

I believe the Bolgerado you're looking for is a Finnish gentleman by the
name of Sakari Aaltonen.

I snagged a copy of that yellow Clamskiff picture,
but I forget the story. It was discussed
here in the Bolger Group, the file date
on the photo was 3/20/03, so it might have
been around that time.

I think the picture you're looking for is in Bolger 3 files, clam
skiff (about 6th file down), then the 2nd file in that heading. I
recall the story, too, about repairing some rot, but it isn't in that
location.

Hi,
A couple of years ago, I remember seeing pictures of a yellow clam
skiff with a top and windows. The boat was in Denmark, Sweeden or
Finland. I cannot remember which. Any way, I would live to "refind"
those pics and the accompanying story.
