Aw gee Jeff, the rest of us down here were keeping v.v. silent. Anyway,
we have a local feeder airline flying Adelaide to Kangaroo Island,
called...wait for it...Emu Airways (it'll never take off).
The only real concern with MOA is that a horde of Wharram proas or cats
might appear over the horizon, filled with moa-hunters (or C.o'D :)

Hey guys,
My boat is a 15'6" Micro. Its name is "under construction". I
ordered the ply today (1/4) marine ply 1088 certified. and found the
keel material, plus almost finished the main mast. Stan's sails and
sail track are here. Things are really starting to come together. My
fingers are sticky from epoxy, the garage floor is a mess, and my wife
has locked me out. It must be "boatbuilding seasom in New England"

Wow, it has been a big week; First, we doubled the names on the MOA list
with the addition of Pippo's name to mine, so now we are all the way up
to two! How about it guys, can we add more names? Just send an email to
me <smuller@...> with Micro type, name of boat, your name and
anything else you deem appropriate. Thanks.
I am happy to announce that I have 1/3 rd of the "Birdwatcher" type
pilot house installed. It's a little stumpy, and 'taint as purty as PB
would have done, but it should work and who knows what a Micro Tugger is
supposed to look like anyway? It's being built on a cut and fit basis,
but the good news is that I have been cutting the other side out as I
built the first side so it should go a lot faster now. Wish me luck,
'cause I'm going to need it!

Jeff - thanks about the nice treatise. Hope that the MOA will have a
bit more luck than the poor Moa. I also accept the apologies re the AC,
however here in Italy we thought that the competition was restricted to
terrestrial crews, but this was not the case clearly.

John - I agree. The MOA should include owner of the whole "Micro
series" i.e. Oldshoe (horrible name though), Micro and Long Micro. I've
sent my boat's data to Stan Muller by the way...

Dear Giuseppe & oyher Potential Members of MOA,
Because of my Birthright, ie yet another Kiwi, I
Thought it my august duty to point out that you are about to
name your organisation after an extinct flightless NZ bird.
You may have done this deliberately, feeling that the name
was appropriate; but just in case this were an accident, I'll
fill you in on yhe Moa. It drew up to 14ft tall in the very
largest cases, and had 5-6ft spindly legs, a round body
and a long neck, with thick plumage on the body and neck.
Rather like a giant ostrich or emu. It had no wings to speak of.
The Moaris prized the bird (NZ has no native animals) for
its meat and ate the lot with great gusto. It made a change from fish.
Because the Maoris were freezing (no animal skins) the Moa
was also hunted for its feathers, used for cloaks.
An aside..the Maoris were so cold the used to paddle up
to 600 miles to attack other tribes, only returning (if they won)
with enough food to see them home.
This tradition has since been replaced by Rugby Football.
Hope this sheds some light...
Cheers

MOA,

I vote to include the Navigator, long Micro, and Junk rigged boats

Just a few thoughts;
MOA, Yes a Micro owners association! But, I think it should also be open
to include the Navigator as well, since it is a Micro at heart, and
certainly the Long Micro must be included. (a Micro on steroids) In lue
of these necessary inclusions, a class association just wouldn't really
work. Now that we (I hope) have accepted these entries to the Micro
Owners association, Let me see if I can come up with descriptive
standard for allowability (I hope that is a word) of boat type into the
MOA. "The MOA shall include any boat having been built from the Micro
plans and that is instantly recognizable as a Bolger Micro, by the
shape, style and configuration of its hull." Please note the fact that I
left out any sail description, because of the following reasons; some of
the owners may opt for the junk rig on there Navigators, There is a vast
size difference in sail size between a Micro and Long Micro, Some may
have a different sail layout all together. Who knows, there may even be
someone that has a Micro that has no sails at all. We certainly wouldn't
want to exclude some fine fellow just because he aint got no sails,
would we? After all, he might always carry a cooler full of refreshing
cold drinks for other MOA members. He may even be the type of guy that
could tow you in when the wind falls off. It is even possible that he
could be really, really good at the old bar-bee-Q, and want to put on a
pile of burgers for those among us that have no cooking facilities. Why,
I can even see value in the time when other Micro owners may point him
out to their children and say, "Lay off the ice cream or you will grow
up and have to use a boat like that!" Yes, Such an unfair mention of
sails should be prevented at all costs. Who knows, such exclusion could
cause him to fall to such depression he might even be tempted to kick
his puppy.

I recall there's a sailplane called MOBA, for "My Own B****y Airplane".
Homebuilt, but very high performance. Not sure this precedent precludes
use.

Pippo,
Yes,Mr.Bolger did indeed pay a visit on board and his gracious
company was most appreciated!!!I like the idea of using Carl's logo
very much.I have no complaints with your English......Now about a
boss, hmmmmmm, that is a tough one!I am not too clear on what you mean by
a boss but I can certainly see Mr.Bolger occupying the position of
Honorary President for Life.Any and all other"positions" would/should
be strictly be on a volenteer basis.I suppose once we have a few
interested parties,we could go off-line and discuss further what each
of us would feel most comfortable with.
We'll wait and se what kind of response we get here first on the
e-group.
Must return to work and the end of my shift.........
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, entertaining only thoughts of my bed,for the moment,on

I would not wish to sully the MICRO with all the protocols and

the independant spirits naturally attracted to the MICRO.
Instead, how about a more loosely structured and simple owners
