[bolger] Re: Dovekie - explained

Per Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary

Dove.kie - (I can't reproduce the pronunciation symbols but it is more
or less 'duv key') noun [diminuative of Dove] a short-billed auk
(Plautus alle) breeding on arctic coasts and ranging south in winter.

Peter (From still chilly SW Connecticut where there was a skim of ice
in the Halloween YC mooring area as recently as Sunday morning.)

Tim,
As you probably know already, the Dovekie is a small bird that nests
on the rocks in New England and further north. I saw one in Harwich
last fall (blown in by a hurricane, I guess). The bird is kind of
cute. Kind of like a Puffin without the colored bill, and a better
swimmer.

List,

Is that pronounced Dove + Key or
dough + veck + ee ?

Would never buy a boat that I could not pronounce the name of. I would also
never end a sentence with a preposition!

Tim - Cluless in Houston - willing to host the Tall ships escort on the
Houston Ship Channel!

I see that there is a Dovekie offered on eBay, presently at $3500.
Write the check and take it away - a true instant boat.

Peter

(I have not connection to the boat, or the seller.)
