[bolger] Nautical Quarterly Bolger Article from 1983

All,

Before I headed out of Portland, OR for the paper mills down the
Williamette valley, I stopped at Powell's Books to look around. For those
who have not heard of Powell's, it is an enormous bookstore for both new
and used books located in downtown Portland. I was hoping to find one of
the out of print gems like "Small Boats". But that was a pipe dream at
best. Getting a little discouraged, I was searching through a cart at the
end of the Boat aisle when I came upon a used copy of Nautical Quarterly
#21, Spring 1983. NQ is a different type of periodical - hardbound, high
quality papers and printing, in a large but odd sized format. The reason it
caught my attention was the cover photo: Stanley Woodward's "Moccasin".

Inside is a nice profile of PCB accompanied by lots of photos of the man
and a broad range of his work. Included are a shot of Resolution in her
dried out dry out berth, a page of the 33'6" leaboard cat-yawl "Alert",
two pages of a "Black Skimmer" including an interior shot that shows how an
unpainted fir plywood exterior can be beautiful, two pages of Dynamite's
Instant Boats (Nymph, Pointy, Surf, and Tortise), four pages of "Moccasin"
the 36' 9" centerboard yawl, two pages of "Tartar" - a cold molded 25'
outboard day boat (nice!!), and finally two pages of Dovekie, the 21' Edey
and Duff built oar auxilary shallow water cruiser.

I just wish I could legally share this with everyone!
