[bolger] Non-Bolger - Sweet Caroline Progress Report

Finished the frame today (pictures for the web tomorrow night, Chuck). Also
Carnell-butt-scarfed two 4x16 panels for the front 16 feet of side planking.
The aft 4 feet is almost flat, so I'll just butt it in place. I was so
pleased with the 3/4 ACX I used on the transom that I used 1/2 ACX for these
side panels. The 1/2 is almost as bad as the 3/4 was good! Lots of
dutchmen on the A-side, and the C-side was rough and knotty. The only good
news: it's very straight and the bends are mild, so it should be adequate
structurally. I'll put the A-side inside again, but there will be LOTS of
patching and cosmetic work on the C-outside planks.

If the epoxy sets hard overnight, I'll hang the side planks tomorrow. If
not, I'll just have to settle for a little cobia and spanish mackeral
fishing in the bowrider - decisions, the decisions I have to make! (It's
hard to concentrate on the cobia with all those Spring Breakers dangling
from para-sails, dangling from their beachwear, and helling around on
Sea-Doos...)

I heard something unusual (like a quiet helicopter) at the Jungle Boat Shop
this afernoon - looked up and a Hawaiian Tropic blimp was hovering about 100
feet up - taking a gluing lesson while waiting for his ground crew - the
airport is a couple of blocks away. I couldn't put the (going-off) epoxy
down to wave.
