Great photo. The whole operation is described with just that one picture.

Hi Francisco
A gallon will be much more than you will need. I sealed a closed wooden mold
for a micro keel with roughly 250cc of 'waterglass' and that was just fine.
Just make very very sure it is all dry before you pour.
cheers

for my Micro, and I used no 'water glass'.
I built a mold using the 'cement board' they sell
at the builder's supply store for use in sheathing
shower stalls in a bathroom. It is cheap and
can be cut with a portable circular saw. I held
the edges in place with some cement/sand
mortor. As you can see, the casting is just set
in a shallow hole in the ground, which I carefully
made smooth and level with some sand.
Some people make elaborate piping to flow the
lead, but I just melt it in a bucket, and dipped
it out with a homemade ladle [a can on a stick].

Looong time without participating in this list. I'm sorry, I have little
time to read your valuous posts.
But my micro is going on anyway, in slow progress.
I think I found a source for water glass, but I ignore the amount that I
need for a simple micro open-mold (with no top). I'm planning to meld my
keel in horizontal position.
So, the question is: 1 gallon of "silicato de sodio" will be enough???
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Sincerly
