Photo Opportunities
I was lucky enough to have lunch with Phil and Susanne
yesterday. They are fine and want to know what we are
up to over here but realize that they don't have time
to look.
We talked about boats, history, fishing, local
politics, their fishing boat project, cars, Winston
Churchill, epoxy resins, authors, motorcycles, boat
building, hurricanes, and railroads. It was a typical
visit with Phil and Susanne.
One of the things that they would really like is
photos of your boats. You'd be amazed at the really
poor quality photos of Phil and Susanne's designs that
they hang on their Wall of Honor and then put into
binders. They deserve better. They deserve more.
If you have a picture of your boat under way, at
anchor, at the dock, under construction, being
flipped, having its bottom painted Phil and Susanne
would like to see it and read your description of what
is going on.
Because of the nature of the Internet and the Tar Baby
nature of this group for them, they won't ever see the
pictures posted here. They know that if they come
here, they won't be able to get away. They understand
that they need to design boats and in order to do
that, they have to essentially ignore their fan club,
us.
I urge you to mail them hard copies of pictures of
your boats. Tell them about you and your boat and the
picture. It will be very enjoyable for them. Your boat
will be on their Wall of Honor (my term) for a while.
It it is a great picture or their favorite design
(probably Birdwatcher I) it could stay up for months.

Today I saw a 10' dinghy sitting on the verge waiting to go to the
tip, couldnt resist and took it home with the paperwork for my wifes
new car. Yuou should have heard the bosun howl. I tried to explain
that it would make a beautiful tender for the schooner.
The hull is fibreglass with lots of huon pine trim, all dried out
and rotting. . at first I thuoght we could salvage the SSbolts but
the I started to realize that the hull was quite good and had very
nice row boat lines and curves. Lookes like my winter projectjust
jumped out and bit me.
ouch
I better get out the new digital camera and do the before shots
cheers paul
