Re: [bolger] Re: Got my plans

I guess it depends on the plan set.

With the Chebacco, there are so many variants shown on the 12 sheets that
one practically has to redraw the plans to get what's applicable to one's
boat; e.g. the mizzen mast from the sheet showing the jib-headed rig; the
bow and cabin from the "cruising conversion" sheets; the offsets and strake
lining from the sheets showing the lapstrake version (and remember that the
"cruising conversion" sheets were drawn for the sheet ply version and are
therefore 4" too narrow); the main mast from the gaff-rig option, but then
modify it for the tabernacle; etc.

( Does anyone know where the mainsail tack is secured on the cruising
conversion? )

On the other hand it is too easy to get into designer mode and let a summer
of beautiful weather get away with little progress :-(

I agree with Peter, push ahead and don't wast too much
time thinking. Though if you do have a hard time visualizing
the process, a quick and dirty model [not a work of art] can
help a lot with the process.

Remember, that all mistakes can be corrected and
most can be corrected easily if you don't waste lots
of time agonizing about it.
A little studying, thought, and planning before building will speed the process and reduce time spent in the moaning chair.
