Re: [bolger] Sources for Plans

Bolger may have more updated plans as far as changes and corrections but Mr. Payson is the only approved alternate source for Bolger plans so I don't see any difference. Both come with good support. You can call Mr. Payson up to ask questions where with Phil Bolger you have to fax or use snail mail.

By the way, when I ordered plans from Mr. Payson for the Sneakeasy I asked if it was okay to build from his books without paying plan royalties. In a reply letter he said it was fine to build from his book without royalties. But, he encourages the purchase of plans since they are drawn to scale providing better accuracy. Having built a Nymph directly from his book I have to agree, plans are easier to use and the cost would have been minimal to the overall cost of the boat.

Subject: [bolger] Sources for Plans

I've built cartopper, rubens numph and bobcat with plans from Dynamite Payson. Since being on this group, I see that some people order plans directly from Bolger. I'm considering Chebacco for my next project. What are the pros and cons of getting plans from Dynamite versus Bolger. Peter Anderson

Dynamite's set is only for the original version of the plywood tack
and tape design. PCB&F plans include all the upgrades which can be a
pro or a con after reading Roger's post:-)

The difference in cost is about $240 US. As you already know,
Dynamite is a man of integrity and fully endorsed by Bolger. If you
want the basic version then that is an incredible bargain for plans.

Seems like you should be able to build that with no problem after
having done a CARTOPPER & BOBCAT!

Cheers, Nels
