Michael,
with 175 gals of fuel on board I dont think your weight
would matter. And you'd get disqualified for sailing.
And Im further from the route than you.
Sorry mate, you are fresh outa excuses!!!
My biggest objection is that as a relay somone
has the hard task of co-ordinator, treasurer.
Of course we are all too busy!
Best way is if one person buys the boat and sells legs
to the rest. I'd be prepared to pay extra rather than have
all the complication of co-ordinating a dozen owners.
I have a couple of queries..
1/ will a 20hp diesel return 20mpg (Jim Betts says range is 3500
miles). Remember the boats are RACING.
2/ What happens if a storm brews at a leg start. The delay will mess up
travel bookings,
and is 25% of race time enough for the slow pokes. Guess you could split
into 2 packs
if the problem appllied consistently to a sizeable group of boats.
3/ Are the engines sealed. Someone could soup one up
enroute. WILL THE SUPPORT CREW carry a spare engine or 2???
I think the revs will need to be limited or people will thrash their donks
to death (or run out of juice) trying to win.
Cheers
Jeff

sailing (actually last time I did any sailing was in 1976 when I live in
Connecticut)and I am 6'6" and over 250 lbs. Someone a little lighter would
be better suited for the trip but it would be fun to see how many members of
this e-group are along the route and could participate. Make it a relay
