Bruce would probably tell you to use Rust Check, were he not in the
middle of his fall rustproofing blitz.

Maybe not cheap but, I feel, more elegant, would be to get some 3/8"
s/s rod, cut it to the right length and have a thread cut on each
end. One day you might need to remove that bolt and this way you have
two chances of having a thread that still works.

Or simpler, get some rod, drill a hole near each end and hold the
assembly in place with a washer and pin (or wire) at each end. No
real need for a thread.

Garth-
Am idea, put a cap nut on the end and epoxy as the rouned end of the cap nut will keep people from getting as mean a cut as a bare end.--j. fitch

I have tried both [plus, I have tried zinc rich paint],
and personally feel that epoxy works best.
Garth, I have had good look letting a skim of rust
form, painting that with one of the "rust reformer"
products, and then painting over with some "cold
galvanize" zinc. Sam

I have several 3/8" bolts through the tabernacle for Cormorant --
