Hugo,
Tell us more about the runabout. Length, construction, etc...
Thanks!

> Schock and Goeller got them right then! Here is the site for the Stur-Dee Cat. As you can see, it's got a
marconi sail and is a little plain compared to Harbinger. The lines
don't show to best advantage in any of the pictures.

The pictures of the 8' Harbormaster look a little like one of PCB's
eary fiberglass designs. I wonder if there is any lineage.

Yes, Hello
,Peter,
Thank you for your nice comments!
Bolger did say in "The Different Schooner...." Book ,about catboats that :Schock and Goeller got them right then!(But Bolger's is a very good one!"
Because my father has built quite a number of "Bolger" boats, some never built before he'd shown interest in them("Merlin" aka 'Marina Cruiser' and the "Recreational rowing boat") Bolger stated in an article in MAIB that Bruce Tyson was one of their favourite people.(Bruce Tyson also built a "Romp" design)
That's why Phil and Susanne are working on the plans for "Silver Blaze", a torpedo-stern, fast inboard runabout(Based apon "Snow Leopard") for me at a very reasonable price.
The design is still in progress, and I told Phil and Sussane last time I talked to them there was no hurry,.......just get it right, which I'm sure they will, as this craft is supposed to be stylish, fast and unique!!!!
That's the reason why the were eager to take on this project, because my father was a "proven" boat builder and could build to very high standards, even though he(My father) considers him self only an amateur boat builder!! ........Some , lots of people disagree!,( even Susanne and Phil from what I last heard from them earlier this year!)

There is model of Edson Shock design that is (or has been) in
production in fiberglass here in New England. I think the name is
Sturdee Cat. It has georgeous lines, but the construction is not
especially slick. Until Harbinger, it was my favorite small cat.
Harbinger looks more able, with a little more freeboard, especially
forward, and has a little more character. Besides, the wood
construction adds a lot of eye candy.
Enjoy. You Tyson's must be on the short Bolger list of favorite
people.

Bruce, Thank you!,
Yes , thank you a great deal!, my father always he thinks he could of done better on any boat he builds!, I suppose that comes from being a perfectionist!? My dad's now 66 years of age , but I certainly don't think he's an old man ,certainly not yet, not yet for a longtime indeed.!!. When he stops building boats, maybe!?.When he doesn't /can't build real full size boats he reckons he'll be in his dotage !!?. ........Though he thinks building a few nice models of boats would be a good thing, probably "Bolger Boats" of course, because he's always been a bit of a "Bolger" fanatic since the late '60s/early '70's and probably before. My father's father used to buy "Rudder" magazines in the '40's and '50's and Bolger's early designs were occassionally featured in them. Pretty radical looking for the times!!?
Anyway, Bruce, my Dad's really pleased with his catboat, and the "Spur II"'s coming along nicely. I'll post more pictures of the progress.
We've just recived a nice lot of timber, mostly enough to build the next "Bolger Boat"- a "Bunny R/ Laura B." Glosester Lobsterboat. I suppose I'll be posting pictures for a year or two more!!@?

Hi, everyone,
Yesterday my father, my brother Dominic and I launched his Bolger
designed Catboat, a 15' x7'1" "Harbinger" design which my father has
named "Dolly T". It was a pretty rotten day for sailing with the
wind being about 20-25 Knots+. Not really nice to try out an
unfamiliar boat for the first time, so he only motored down to the
islands at the bend in the river and then back to the mooring. Today
we had our first very gentle sail as the wind was very light, but
she ghosted along nicely in very light winds, even against a strong
outgoing tide. Under power, with the 3.5 HP two Stroke near full
throttle we reckon she does about 6.75-7.5 Knots. Iv'e posted lots
of photos of the first day on the water for the "Dolly T"n the files
section of Bolger4 group. Unfourtunately, theres no sailing pictures
as such, because I was onboard that day! I'll post some soon.
She was really nice to sail, albeit the winds were light, very
lightoved right along, even against a strong outgoing tide with
about 500lbs of human cargo onboard.
Photos are posted in the files section of Bolger4 group in the
Folder "Bruce Tyson's Harbinger-launched"

Hopefully this link will get you there.!
His Spur II is coming along nicely, she'll be finished in about 2-4
weeks.
