Sewing machine

I just finished a proper wood storage shed in the back and I am
restoring and moving stuff around. I have just finished excavating the
regular storage shed and I am throwing out and giving away whatever I
can. One of my possessions is an old Singer Industrial sewing machine.
With the table and large motor it is a very imposing object. I acquired
it for free when a semi pro seamstress friend passed it on to me. I had
thought that I might make my own sails someday but this thing is
overkill for any sails I might make and is too heavy to get up and down
the stairs to where I would make sails at anyway.

It has no model number that I can find on it, It is old but apparently
worked when it was passed on to me. It would cost about $30-$40 US to
get to Seattle.

So if anybody is thinking of replacing the topsails on their 90' Brig I
have just the thing for them, otherwise I will offer it up on the local
give away program.

I probably should have mentioned the file is 50 megs, and require both
a broadband connection and Apple's Quicktime to be viewed.

FBBB,

A few months ago I posted a little fishing/boat building film that Bob
Wise and I shot on Lake Victoria in the Summer of 2003. That film was
merely a side project for a film that took me and Bob to
Serbia and Kenya, and took me to several locations throughout the US.
Although Bob and I were barely acquainted via e-mail, and had never met
in person, he agreed to come on the trip because I had built a few
Bolger boats, and had written a few things that showed I had some
understanding of Bolger's design philosophy.

As it turns out, the resulting film is very much in the spirit of a
Bolger design. Bob showed us unconventional and inexpensive ways to
approach our work that yielded outstanding results. In particular,
where we'd been shooting video, Bob showed us how we could shoot film.
Yes, shooting film cost a little bit more; but the results were a huge
of improvement in the quality of our imagery and storytelling – an
improvement out of scale to the investment. Bob's lessons in film have
been as revelatory as PCB's lessons in plywood.

The results are the short promotional documentary "Gifts of the Heart",
which can be seen at:

"Gifts of the Heart" chronicles and celebrates the Church World Service
Gifts of the Heart program. The GoH program distributes standardized,
hand-made relief kits to trouble regions throughout the world. CWS does
not evangelize, and kits are dispatched in response to need, regardless
of the race, faith or creed of the recipients. Religion can be
incredibly divisive. People who commit acts of hate in the name of God
get splashed across the front page, while stories of those who quietly
ask God to give them greater understanding are seldom told. Whatever
your feelings about religion, faith and belief, I hope you'll enjoy the
sentiments expressed in this film.

YIBB,
