The Bolger Auray punt plans show oars only, I think.

I input the lines into Gregg Carlson's Hulls program and
generated these wire line diagrams which give an idea
as to shape.

I am not sure that she is well suited
for a sailboat...seems like being really good at one
thing ought to be justification enough. It is a rare boat
that is a truly good multi purpose boat without
compromising one purpose or the other, IMO.
Would the Auray be a decent sailer? Do the plans show a sail rig or
is she intended for oars only.

Somewhere I have a very old copy of Small Boat Journal which includes an
article about the Auray punt (the original, not Bolger's). In the article a
boat design student drew plans for a traditionally planked version and
comments that it would very readily take a small sail rig and perform very
nicely. I suspect that this would be even more the case with Bolger's ply
wood version. Very easy to add dagger board trunk or lee board. I picture a
tidy little sprit/sprit-boom rig with spars and mast that could all be
stowed on board the punt when being towed. At any rate I love the look of it
and chose it over several options for the Micro's friend. Full report of the
wisdom of this choice will be posted next summer.
