Re: Marine plywood / central Illiinois

Looks like they'd also be a good source of material if you were going
to make a fabric-over-framework canoe.

If one goes to the on-line catalog for
Wicks Aircraft Supply (Highland, Illinois, USA)
one will find this item:

http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog/product_cat.php/subid=105/index.

The ink stamp on a sheet of this plywood reads as follows:

"WISA-PLY OKOUME BS 1088 WBP 244*122*06 10/10/2003 MADE IN FRANCE"

In addition, there is a self-adhesive "sticker" that reads:

"LLOYD'S REGISTER TYPE APPROVAL, CERTIFICATE NO. 98/00148"

Wicks brought-in 5 sheets of this plywood for stock at my request;
today I bought all 5 sheets and committed to buying 5
more sheets. Wicks will be bringing-in some more on their
next regular aircraft-grade plywood order (I do not know when
that will be).

Wicks would keep a little bit of this stuff in stock if
there is a market for it, but does not want to get
saddled with product that there is no demand for.

If a few more people will buy this stuff, we here in the
mid-west hinterlands just might end-up with a supplyer
where we can buy marine-grade plywood "off the shelf."
