Re: [bolger] Bolger's cruisers

How about Black Gauntlet II, 33' sharpie from The Folding Schooner?

Pippo,

I hope you are planning to finish the Micro first!!!

Try 'Arava.'

9.0m x 3.03m x 0.60m.

Leeboard cruiser, ply with two chines, gaff cutter rig, outboard
auxillary. Original built for sailing the Red Sea. Cabin is similar
to the AS-29 in many respects. Sleeping space for two under the
cockpit and two in the main cabin without sleeping on the cabin table
or its seats. The shape is more boatlike and less boxlike than the AS-
29, and the forefoot should be much quieter.

The original had a raked mast stepped in the bow in lieu of a
forestay, but I am sure that a conventional gaff cutter rig could be
fitted. Actually, I would discuss several rig options with the
designer, possibly moving the mast forward a bit and going with a
fairly normal gaff sloop.

There was an article in MAIB, but my Xerox doesn't tell me the date.
I think it's design # 309, but the number is small and blurry on the
page.

Dear all - other than the ones described in BWAOM, do you know of any
other cruising sailboats designed by PCB with the following features:

1) at least 4 berths
2) reasonably simple construction (plywood best)
3) enclosed head
4) comfortable enough for extended (2-4 weeks) vacations for a family
of 4
5) open water capable

I mean, something similar (in terms of intended use) to the AS29. Red
Zinger or Sea Bird 86 seem a tad small, Bright Thread is almost
there but looks a bit too elaborate... Nothing bigger than those:
Barn Owl is beautiful but plain too much...

Best
