Re: Navigator Dinghy Photos (sort of off topic)

Hi Stefan, thanks for your comments.
The plan would have been ok as drawn for your purposes, but the boat
as it ended up would not. I changed from a displacement hull to a
planing one during construction, doing changes by eye, and don't have
any drawings suitable for anyone to build from.
Best I could do would be to measure it up.
The light blue is semi-gloss enamel paint with srg grit added.
There is an 'action' photo on my site now, and Duckworks are doing an
article.

Don,

I thoroughly enjoyed to look through your website. She is a beauty.
Do you have any construction plans (or a hul file) that you would
publish? On my list "to build somewhen" is a 10-to-max11 feet, low
power (row, trolley, small outboard), heavy load (no need for speed)
dinghy. Your unnamed dinghy looks like a good contender.

Just one question: On your page "Dinghy Photos6", the light blue
colour on the floor, seats, etc. Is this just paint, or something
else? Looks really neat.

Cheers,
Stefan

Thanks Peter,
Yes, we went from the worst December on record to a lovely summers day
overnight, and no excuse not to launch.
Launching was satisfaction and equally relief by the way!
Tomorrow I'm coaching the missus on how to use her camera for some
proper pics.
But small beer compared with your mighty bow shelter!

Hi Don,
That is one fine looking home designed/homemade dinghy you've
got yourself thar! It must be rather exciting to see a project like
that through from the very beginning all the way to launch and
beyond!
And oh yes, I do love those summery time pictures with all
sorts of water and greenery to tease and tantalize one into
maddness:-)

Congrats on the new launching!

Off topic, but the connection is that testing my outboard is part of
my Navigator launch program!
I wanted a dinghy for mainly fishing, not as a tender really, as my
Elegant Punt will do. I have plans for Bee, but decided she was not
long enough, and would be too heavy for cartopping if larger. So I
designed and built a lightweight 10 footer which I hoped might plane
with Oink's 4hp Yamaha, never having achieved this with an inflatable.
Launched her yesterday and was quite astounded with her performance,
and rowed quite well enough too,
