Re: Aluminum Teal????

Curtis: Couldn't get the links to work but would love to see
images. Can you email pix? My personal address isdg@...

My metal books rate 0.125 thickness aluminum at about 1.75 lbs/sq.ft
and 0.10 at around 1.4 lbs/sq.ft.

Questions:
- what thickness did you use?
- assuming it was a long hull, were you able to eliminate any
bulkheads, knees or bracing?
- what would you do different?

Thanks!!! Dave
That would be me... I figured the 1/8 plate I used weighs about the same as
3/4 ply, (or 1/2 ply with glass epoxy and paint). I expect most (all?) of
my future boats will be metal - 'cause I HATE maintenance. Once it's in the
water, the weight doesn't matter much.

Puddleduck was launched September 2001 - here are some earlier posts on it,
in this group.

that GHW Bush had been on the ship as it went by, and the river had been
closed to all boats - the guys in the copter were NOT messing about.)

Rumor has it that someone built an aluminum Teal recently. I am
debating 0.10 aluminum construction for a BeachCat knowing the added
weight will have a weight penalty.

Would like info and lessons-learned if the owner is a regular on this
forum.
