Re: Sitka fevor

No, John I didnt commission her. (I would have tho!!)

I am leaning towards the double berth cant break old habits!
Yes, 10' beam would be nice except for towing, building, paying, etc
I think it is plenty big as is and am worrying about moving it about the country
to different cruising grounds, I think that is my biggest concern.
I am sure Mr Bolger is still busy with the I60 but dang I sure am anxious.

All three of those boats are suited for different uses,
Sitka and Dakota are the most similar, that is long
term displacment speed cruising.

Topaz is much more of a light weight, weekend
party boat, from my mind I see her as a
curvaceous version of Tennessee.

My S.O. has gone from favoring the Champlain
to now favoring the Topaz.

Here is a model.

I take it that you've commissioned their completion?

Neat boat, it's one I keep coming back to. Although I do think PCB's desire
to keep it to 8' of beam is a bit silly on a 40' boat. It sure would open up
the floorplan options if he'd bump her up to 10' beam.

I personally prefer the symmetrical plan over the asymmetrical alternative,
even though it doesn't give you a permanent berth. Bolger mentioned a third
alternative layout for Sitka, any idea what it is? Which one would you
build?
