Seagull outboards
In reference to the best motor for a Micro, there has already been
posted what I assume is good advice.
I had an already old 5 HP Seagull on my PY-23, and I remember it
fondly. I found the advice that "Seagulls break down often but are
easily fixed" to be totally accurate. I was always able to fix it
myseklf, and I'm strictly an intuitive mechanic. The major drawback to
the motor was that it did not have a connector for a separate gas tank.
I jerryrigged a connector with some plumbing parts on top of the
integral tank, and found that the priming pump on the standard hose to
my Evinrude tank could fill the motor's tank in a couple of minutes of
energetic squeezing. The Seagull was designed to push sailboats (read
"heavy displacement hulls") so was ideal for its task.
