Re: Loosemoose II was[bolger] Aluminum construction is good for most hard chines!!
Actually not quite so simple....
Loose Moose 2 was comissioned by us as a custom design ( so was the Loose Moose
design by Paul FISHER in the Selway Fisher catalog...)
The AS 39 name was given to the design when Bernie added it to the Common Sense plans
program and always bothered me as the boat is not thirty nine feet in lenght (Bernie was a
bit challenged on the metric to imperial conversion!) The boat is actually 37 feet and a kiss
or 11M49...

I think the Wises named this design and they talked to both, PCB and
Selway-Fisher and they used to follow this group. Clyde

"Loose Moose" was the name of the vessel.
"Advance Sharpie 39" or "AS 39" is the name of the design.
Selway-Fisher, a nice group of boats too, has a design
named "Loosemoose".
Not too confusing by half, is it?
And yep, an AS 39 could certainly be made from aluminum or steel.

I am aware) was named Loosemoose II.
The Selway-Fisher 36 foot Loosemoose is certainly
a different design than Bolger's 39 foot AS39, Advanced
Sharpie 39.

Bolger for his thoughts on what I want, but since I

I am in the process of doing a Fisher-Selway Firecrest
in 0.10 and
0.125 aluminum (I hear the boos from the Bolger fans
and may get
tossed off this forum for my crime).
PS: Mr Fisher notes that if you use 0.10 metal, it
will only add a
few pounds over medium thickness ply with fiberglass.
0.125 is 1.75
lbs/sqft. I like it that you can work with material up
to 6 feet wide
and 20 feet long and aren't stuck with 4x8s, lap
seams,etc.
Rivet sources are Aircraft Spruce and check with
Leading Edge
Airfoils (LEAF). My vote is to go the welded route.
