Thanks Bruce - I received it as an attachment on my
Yahoo address, and assumed it could be safely
forwarded. Since I am just a bit of a lurker on this
site, can you advise how I get into Bolger 4 and 5?
Regards,
Andrew.

Here is a link to a web site with a series of .mpg video clips of
the Falkirk Wheel in operation. There are other similar sites out
there. Some use .wmv format if that is your preferance.

I just posted a photo of the Falkirk Wheel in the PHOTOS section
of this list. It shows the wheel from the lower pond. The wheel is
like a Ferris Wheel with only two seats. The seats are tubs of
water that can accomodate several boats. Since the weight of the
two tubs is equal, it takes only about as much electric energy as
running a household appliance to turn the wheel. The tubs have
gates at the ends to allow boats to enter and exit. The tubs can
join the upper level of the canal with a watertight seal allowing
the gates to open and boats to exit. Of course, at the lower end,
the tubs are at the level of the pond so no water is lost when the
gate opens at that end.
Do a Google search on the Falkirk Wheel. It is fascinating. It has
allowed the reopening of the Scottish Lowlands canal that
connects Glasgow to Edinburgh. It is located near the town of
Falkirk -- hence the name. There are several companies nearby
that have self-drive canal cruisers for hire as well as tour boats.

Oops again Andrew, Yahoo doesn't accept attachments.
Can't wait to see, I know the Falkirk wheel lift is pretty cool.
Try posting to one of the photo section, Bolger 4 and 5 have some
room.
