I'm sure Bolger has some very clever ideas about double paddles - see his
design for "Kayak" perhaps (plans from Payson).
Larry Westlake has an even simpler way to use a closet rod by just cutting
a one-sided taper in the end of the rod. You might want to check out
Larry's boat designs for "Yukon" and "Double Yukon" also - double-paddle
canoes with interesting Athabaskan design elements, but very easy to build:
