to any message by entering the message number in the URL line at the
time of the browser.
For example:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger/post?act=reply&messageNum=42870
will take you to message 42870.
Now, how to figure out the message number is....

I suspect there are marketing issues here that we have not yet seen.
You probably all remember having your user profiles reset to permit
spam from yahoo after a few previous "upgrades".
I visited my profile last night and noticed this had been done.
However, when I attempted to correct it I was directed to the new
settings page which does not allow you to uncheck this feature. When I
tried to access the profile page again I could not retrieve it. The
profile page has been changed.
Also note that you can now search the entire member list. The email
addresses are truncated but it is now much easier to spam list members.

Isn't that what it's all about? At first I thought my computer had a
virus or something. I don't like it and gave my feedback.

again I ask where's the improvement, where's the 'fix', or is it
broke more? :(

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
They seem to have got rid of that most convenient 2nd little search
box they had where you could so easily (what a joy) access the
messages archive at any previously noted point simply by entering the
message number. :(
Also the new layout may makes it harder to read/skim the messages
index quickly when you are looking for something. Perhaps it will be
tolerable once you get used to it. :(
Apart from the plus for Yahoo of now getting some more advertising
before us are there any other benefits?
