Re: Micro for sale

I have a feeling that the engine shown in the Wolumla
pic is North Eastern Railway 0-6-0 preserved in
England,but it does look good

Thanks guys. I pulled out my motoring guide.

Wolumla? It's a pub - originally the Railway Junction Hotel. The
railway didn't make it, but some great cheeses from this region, and I
believe there are wines coming along too - so who'd care when
comfortably ensconced aboard a Micro going down river? (10klicks to the
north - my fave town name in the area - Numbugga!)

Graeme
Thanks for the directions Peter and Howard. I'd thought it more
likely to be on the Nth NSW coast. So it's possibly someone from up
Canberra way then - I think a few have been built up there.

I don't know what else, but that $12.5k asking price seems high!

Cheers
Graeme

I'm reluctantly selling my - admittedly "fixer" - Micro due to lack
of time and space. Tanbark sails are in excellent condition. Foot of
mainmast has some separation and should be glued and clamped.
Interior not finished. When I got it there was some rot in the hull,
bottom forward; I used CPES on it after scrapping out the soft stuff,
then epoxyed in a sheet of 1/8 plywood inside. It's my first attempt
with epoxy, a bit of a messy job. Some water still came in and I'm
not sure why. Now she's been on the trailer (safely tarped, with
ventilation) for 2 years and I'm facing reality. (That, and I just
bought Joe Tribulato's Oldshoe - that eases the pain of letting go of
this vision.) The sliding hatch must have broken at some point, and
the second owner has a hinged hatch, which is quite silly and needs
to be replaced. Trailer has new wheels and tires, and was rewired
when I got it (3 years ago.) It has a long trough for the keel, and
bunks on the sides. I would replace the bunk supports. If I were to
keep it, that would be the next thing I would do. I would also have
someone mount the lights up at the top rather than at bumper level as
I've broken the light going over curbs.
Boat is in Seattle, WA. I have no idea what it is worth. Email is
tough for me to access right now, so if you'd like to make me an
offer, call 206 387-7437. Much thanks.
I think his major problem is that the boat is located in Prescott, AZ, which
is a long way from anywhere!

I've got a cousin who lives there, perhaps she would not mind keeping a boat
in her drive for a couple of years until I had the time to drive the 4,000
mile round trip to bring the boat home....

On second thought, no, the wife would would go into apoplexy...

You'll reach a much bigger market that way than advertising on lists or in

This certainly seems to be a great bargain.

Trouble with selling any boat, bargain or not, is that you need to locate a customer who wants such a boat, and it can take some time to find one, though one usually comes along eventually (if not three!).

Another way to sell a boat (as I did with my Chebacco) is to use Ebay. You'll reach a much bigger market that way than advertising on lists or in mags.

Sorry, I didn't see your post saying that the boat and trailer had
to go together until after I sent mine. I already have a suitable
trailer taking up space, and don't really want another one.

Hi,

If the boat is still available, I will take it sight unseen. Just
tell me where to send the check. I can pick the boat up sometime
around mid-May.

I have owned may boats, and built a couple, a Glen-L 26' St Pierre
Dory, and a Michalak Piccup. I have time to take care of the
cosmetics, but not enough time to build a Micro from scratch.

It would be a great boat for the Sea of Cortez.

OK, judging from the emails I've received I have failed to
communicate what I'm asking for the Micro sitting on the trailer.

I am asking $1500 for the Micro and the trailer she lives on. They
must go together.

The trailer cost me $1K. The boat is in good shape although she needs
cosmetic attention (which I try to give her between being a grad
student, working and having a 9 month old boy)

I started by asking $4,500 which seemed reasonable. Now I really just
want her 1) out of the driveway, and 2) being sailed and cared for.

So, this is a Micro for $500 - QUITE A DEAL!

Reading the article on the web site, trailer, boat and driveway are all
in Prescott Arizona.

Hi Eevryone,

I still haven't sold my micro "Little Em". She's sitting in the
driveway waiting for someone to pick up. I've lowered the price
(again) and she really has to go to someone who will get her out on
the water. The price now is $1,500.00 sitting on the trailer. That's
a steal deal folks.

Thanks,
