Hi Jason,
I remember that magazine article too now you mention it.
The designers name is definitely Gary Underwood.
I also know of Keith Levy, the brother-in-law of a good friend of
mine, again my memory is jolted by your comments.

Hi there - I believe its called Shoestring, was the subject of an
article in a NZ yachting magazine in the early mid 90s. I think the
designer was Gary Appleby. It was built by/for a Keith Levy (?) to
replace a traditional type keeler lost in one of the pacific islands
races.
A lot of sponsors gave materials and gear etc - but then the boat
was sold off not too long after finishing. the boat/design always
looked good - not quite sure who owns it now, but it appears in good
hands

I just tried to look for the article - so the above info is based on
my failing memory only!!!

Hi Jason, I saw this boat too. I'm 99% sure it is a design by Gary
Underwood, a kiwi. I knew him many years ago when we both started
architecture course, but he sensibly went on to do what he liked best,
boats!

It's definitely NOT a Chebacco. :-)

There is a Chebacco on the front page of the Bolger2 group, but that's not
the image he was directing us to. Go to the photos section and find the file
called JR.

I don't know if it is a PHIL Bolger design, and if it turns out to be one
it's probably not built to plan. To my knowledge, Bolger has never been a
huge fan of the Hasler/McLeod junk rig that this boat is sporting. It's very
possible that it is the builder's own design. One of a kind. Not my cup of
coffee, but one of a kind.
